Massey identification

I'm hoping someone can point me to some basic 'identification' stuff on the older Masseys. A retired farmer friend of mine has a couple of tractors sitting out in the barnyard, I know they are Masseys, I'm going to take a guess at 33's or 44's from what I recall. I'm fairly confident that they are gas, but, not 100% certain. I'm hoping to make it out to see him in the near future, and am hoping to maybe make him an offer on the 2 of them. (I'm just itching to get my fingers dirty again and do a tractor up.) I know that they are in rough, rough shape....can anyone tell me where to find numbers (serial, casting #'s, date codes, whatever), and anything to really watch out for. Knowing this gentleman, if I tell him what I plan on doing with the tractors, it'll likely be a token selling price. My thought is to maybe overhaul one, and use the other for parts, then to part it out when I'm finished.

Thanks,
Mark

If they are for sure MH tractors the serial number will be stamped into the top of the rearend houseing on the left handside by the pto control lever. You may have to clean off some rust and paint read them.

I have an older Massey. I was told it is a 1961. It's yellow and needs a starter. Does anyone know how I can identify it by year and series, etc.? I have looked on the web some for parts but don't have any idea what series or model I have and don't know how to find out. I am new to tractors and need help. Thanks.
