Duals on a 165?

Just wondering if anyone has experience putting dual rear wheels on a MF165? We get a lot of wheel spin disking over soft (previously plowed) ground. If this is possible, any advise on where to get adaptors, spacers etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Peter

If you have an independent PTO you have probably broken the PTO brake disk or the shoe. To get at this you must split the tractor behind the trans, but it can be seen by removing the trans top cover. The brake disk is a steel ring about 8 inches in diameter and 1/8 in. thick with a bronze facing on it . It rides on the main PTO clutch drum, and is stopped by a little steel shoe on the end of a small hydraulic cylinder. If you have to take it apart you should disassemble and check the clutches themselves and replace the seals in the drum. You can break the disk very easily by stopping a heavy PTO load too quickly. Overrunning clutches on all PTO implements are a very good Idea.

Careful. There were a lot of 165's with the rear ends smashed out of them by guys putting duals on them. Go to the next size or two bigger in a single. Tom

MF offered a dual kit for the MF-135. Essentially it used long hex nuts (like sold for coupling lengths of all thread). Then a spacer drum fit over those stud extenders and another standard wheel bolted on. The spacer drum had individual holes for each stud extender.

Likely there's some aftermarket "snap on" rims that could be attached.

I found my 4020 spun a lot less in loose dirt last week when I locked the differential. At least it didn't rock from side to side, just hopped up and down...
