I recently pull the tach plate against the back of engine (3 cyl perkins) that the cable fits through and and cleaned it real good, put new gasket on and made sure weep hole was clear. Also put new rubber seal where cable coupling screws onto plate. Problem is oil spurts out weep hole now. Before I did this stuff the weep hole was plugged with silicone and oil was leaking around plate which is why I wanted to clean and fix leak. Any ideas is always welcome and appreciated as before. Thanks.

There's probably a shaft seal for the cam shaft that you need to replace. Its inside the space the plate covers, probably. I've not looked at the parts book for the Perkins engines since my MF-135 has a Continental gas engine. You need to slow the oil coming from that cam shaft seal, then the weep hole will back off to no significant drip.

I've checked the parts book. There IS a seal on the tachometer coupling behind the plate. The parts are the same for gas and diesel Perkins engines. The seal is MF number 636 762 M1 Perkins number 30854. 7/8 x 1-3/8 x 1/4"

The coupling that the seal rides on is MF 735 889 M1, Perkins 339473106 or 0201361.

You need the seal at least, probably the coupling is worn too.

Thanks Gerald. I'll be going to the dealer with these parts #s and give it a shot.
