I have a MF65, 1959 gas. Thinking about buying a 3pt. post hole digger, would like at least a 12" auger. Will the tractor and 3pt. handle it OK.

Thanks in advance.

We used one on a 135 and it did it without a murmur.Actually the original Harry Ferguson post hole digger, (The one that was such a pain in the a... to hitch up! ) was made for the TE ( or indeed the TO ) 20 tractors.

Everything Big Dean and TO35 said is accurate in my experience.

I've used post hole diggers on an MF35, MF65, and MF 165. Sure beats the old hand-held diggers...

If you get a post hole digger hung up and you have ground speed. Jack one of the back wheels off the ground put the pto in ground speed put the transmission in reverse the hi low in low. When you let off the clutch it will spin the auger right out it is best to be lifting up on it with the three point while you are doing this. I have got many of them unstuck like that.

Big Dean, Does it matter which rear wheel you lift off the ground when you reverse out of the hole with the digger? Doesn't the power go to both rear wheels? So you're saying the tractor won't move if you get only one wheel off the ground and put the transmission in reverse with ground speed pto? Otis

only problem might be drilling alongside a root or rock, you can get stuck when the flights hang between the obstacle. Then you have to disconnect the auger, pullaway & get it out with pipewrench & prybar or dig it out.

I have a 55-TO35 with A z-134 gas engine, I boughta used Ford brand heavy duty 3pt hole digger with 12" and 24" augers I can use either. The only problem I've encountered is with the 24"when digging in good clay it tends to pull the auger on in after about half way down, when using it I dig slow and lift and clean out the hole often when digging. I'd say your 65 should handle it with no problems...

Best wishes
