Good afternoon,
I was wondering if any of you guys have had trouble with the pto slipping under load. Seems to me it would be pto clutch trouble?? thought i would see if it was a common problem.....Thanks, Jim

If the pto clutch just started slipping it could be from low hydraluic pressure. This could be the pump but most likely it is the strainer on the pump pickup tube located in the center housing. This can be accessed by removing the triangular plate on the bottom of the housing. Be sure to drain the hydraulic oil first. It would be a good idea to replace the strainer and the oil. Also change the filter it is usually located just inside the left wheel between the seat and axle housing in the large steel canister, there may be two of them, depending on the options you have. It needs to be checked quickly because it won"t slip very long before its junk. If its junk it cost about 1200.00 for parts if you are lucky. I this doesnt cure the problem check the hydraulic pressure on the accessory pump. and finally the clutch pack may be burned up. They almost never wear out they burn up from low hydraulic pressure and slippage

Most MF1080s have the Independent PTO That is quite Common on them. They have a single disc clutch. The PTO on them is engaged by a hydraulically controlled multi-disc clutch pack in the rear center housing. The clutch pack disc are slipping it could be caused by bad seals or the discs in the clutch pack wore out A weak Multipower & Independent pump or a combination of all of that. Of course if you have one of the few that do have a manual engaged PTO then You will probably have to replace the PTO disc in the Dual clutch.

Check the adj rod and if you can get inpection plate off on bottom take a flashlite and look up at plates as someone works clutch. Watch eyes and block tractor to prevent rolling. Have you had the 1080 long?
