MF65 3-point Lift Problem

My Dad has a MF65 which we had overhauled by a local tractor dealer (not a MF sealer). He did a great job, except the hydraulic system still has problems. The old pump was broken, and he replaced it, probably with a used pump. Initially after the overhaul, the problem was slow, weak lifting. I took it back to him, and he found a pinhole in an internal pipe. I got it back, and it was better, but not right. Now that cold weather is here, it hardly works at all. The draft control lever does not behave as described in the owner's manual, i.e., putting it in Position Control does not permit the Lift Lever to raise and lower the lift arms. In any case, it won't lift more than maybe 150 pounds.

So my first question is, is there anything inherently wrong with the MF65 hydraulic lift design, and the second question is, can anyone guess what might be wrong here? Thanks

pull one of thesmall side covers off, either the pto shift or the oil level cover, then start the tractor, with a flash light look in while someone is working the lift lever. if you see oil coming from above you probably have a leak, blown o ring etc.

sometimes aftr overhaul or disassembly after re assembly there are a set of adjustments that may have to be made . (Always) they are listed in your service manual. if it is a100 series tractor or a 200 series tractor even the early 35's etc the adjustments are very similar. follow the directions you can't go wrong

You need to go to>Link

Big>Link Dean will have the answers you are looking for. The MF lift on my 65 is adequate considering the age of the tractor and the expectations of users at the time of manufacture. No inherent problems with the system however, the draft control is kinda a nothing- at least on mine. I've been satisfied with it picking up anything the tractor chassis could handle. I have noticed that it does get pretty slow when the tractor has been in hard use for over an hour with a HEAVY corrugator. Otherwise, no problems, always does the job. I wonder if you have the wrong oil in the system? Get with Big Dean, he can help you out!
