Hi again all
Ok I know its a ferguson 35. It has a dual stage cluch and two settings on the PTO. The tractor is red (original?). The motor is grey (original?) can see gold under. Its a 23c 4cyl diesel. It has badges on the front and sides of the bonnet with Ferguson only on them. On the ID plate it says made in coventry England and the serial number is SDM3144 I would like some defining information on this model as i want to restore her to original one day and colours would be important. Thanks in advance
Peter

It appears that you may have a 1956 FE-35. The SN prefix letters are as follows:

S - standard chassis D - Standard Diesel engine M - dual clutch

I believe the original colors were gray sheet metal with gold-colored castings.

I've got a 1957 version of the same which was also painted red and grey on top of grey and gold. I belive that either the dealers painted them when selling used, as the 4 cylinder has a poor starting reputation, or that they were resprayed at the factory because the colour scheme was changed in December 1957 so any stock in grey and gold could have been dificult to sell. These are only theories, perhaps someone knows for sure?
