I have a MF 135, age probably 1960"s.

the neutral safety
switch has always given me problems. I have to move the shift lever back and forth to find the righ spot where the
switch will work. I asume the switch is below the shifter inside the
transmission housing.
I"m not even sure what to look for.
I either want to replace it or bypass it which would be a lot easier.
How do I run the wiring to bypass the NSS.

Jim

Please DO NOT bypass the safety start switch - - BAD IDEA. You could cause a death by your action, and easily lose the farm in the lawsuit that will likely follow. There was a write up in here a while back about a tractor climbing over a quy who didn't know the switch had been bypassed.

Hi Jim,
First of all from a safety aspect, DON'T bypass it other than for an emergency. You may know it's bypassed but someone else might not. Those wonderful people at Massey Ferguson have made life very easy. You will find the switch screwed into the top of the gearbox casing, just in front of the steering box on the rhs. Your switch should have spade terminals so there won't be any problem replacing it. They usually undo with a grips unless you have the right spanner.
The part number is 54328179 assuming that you have a Lucas electrical system.
Cheers

The safety start switch is located on the top of the gearbox casing, near to the front, just under the battery box; it will probably have a rubber boot on with 2 wires coming away from it.
If you want to bypass it all you have to do is join the 2 wires together, but this is not advisable as the tractor will then be able to start in gear and you may end up with some one being hurt or run over.
It is only a matter of unscrewing the switch out of the gearbox casing, so why not replace with a new one.
