I own a MH 33 that is in need of restoration. It is complete, but a walk around inspection tells me it will need a manifold, some of the freeze plugs are pushed out and the head is broke. I can see a horizontal paint crack on the left side of the block, but at this point I cant determine if this is a cracked block or not. There is no water in the oil. I have the time and resources to take on a restoration like this and it would be a fun project. My only hesitation is the availability of parts, particularly the head, manifold, clutch (and related parts) and if the block is cracked internally and needs to be replaced what then? Any feedback would be appreciated. Like I said it would be a fun project, but I dont want to start disassembling it only to get hung up on unavailable parts like a head or block and then have a barn full of parts and pieces lying around. TIA

I have a good head & bare block ( no sleeves ) and some other parts that may help. I do not have a manifold, but you could go with a new replacement style.

JJL:
I'd like to email you with some questions, however I'm not familiar enough with this forum to figure out how to see an email address. Im not sure if posting a followup to your reply will go to you or be a follow-up to may original, so Ill post this and see which way it goes.

Maybe Harris Guy can steer you a bit straighter but in my opinion I wouldn't think engine parts (especially blocks, etc) would be the easiest MH stuff to lay your hands on. I think that was a 201 cubic inch engine. Nice tractors though, and maybe someone might have a complete engine at a reasonable price that a guy could drop in.

JJL has already jump started your major E201 parts
If you are patient, do have the time, follow the
MH sites, items surface. Most of a 33RC shares a
good deal of parts with both the 44 and earlier 30
models. E201 & E208's again, share parts. Your carb kit will be M/S for a MF 150. An exhaust manifold is more big ticket, since, after 50 years
most original are rotted, welded scrap. A repro,
from who knows where(find out before buying), is
probably $150, perhaps more, with the wrong vendor
A 33 is rather common, you may find one listed for
part-out, on Massey Collector's Assoc, or one of the alive sites. Live clutch PTO is nice, parts
from MF combines cross in the disc brake/clutch
assembly. No real dead ends, if you have time to wait for decent parts, don't compromise by bolting
on blatant mistakes, Sheet metal is important. The
hood must be 33, don't believe decals, measure to
be sure on these details, since the fuel tank seams
will not align properly. Good luck.
