Finally got it started after occupying a corner of the shop for about 3 years.Runs well, but 6 volt system isn"t strong enough to start it reliablly. I"m not a purist, so a 1 wire alt is my first choice. the wide 7/8" fan belt is the problem. Can you get a wide pully to fit on an alt.Or do I need to get a 12v gen or can the 6v gen be converted to 12v.I don"t think it would be feasable to try to get narrow pullies for the crankshaft and water pump. Had it ready to start last year at this time and then discovered that I had the valves out of time.Got so dicouraged I just walked away from it. Had changed the crank, and timing the valves is really a no brainer. Just line up the marks on the two gears and you are in bussiness. Maybe most of you guys know this, but the crank gear has 2 punch marks on it. Didn"t see the 2nd one when I put it back together so had to do over. Checked the crank I took out and it was the same way. Kind of off the subject from my reason for posting , but if it keeps someone else from making the same mistake, its worth the extra space.

We changed a MH-30 to twelve volts when on the farm.We used a delco alt.The pulley off the generator fit onto the alt.Did not change the starter,The only thing is the starter can not be cracked for a long period of time.Changed the coil to twelve volt coil.Put a ballist resistor in the feed line to coil.Changed battery to a twelve volt and hooked up negative ground.Switched wires around on amp gauge.Changed all light bulbs to twelve wolt.Don't cheap out on the battery. The higher the cranking amps the better. If you need more info drop me a line.

If there is a generator ,starter, alternator repair shop in your area, they can tell you if your 6volt generator and starter can be converted to 12. Some previous owmer put a 6 volt generator on my 333 and all it took to make it a 12 volt was to put a 12 volt regulator on it. I got lucky.
