Three questions please:

1. A block heater is needed for my "63 diesel. Should I use a frost plug or a hose heater? If a frost plug, do you know the size?

2. Does anyone know the exact size of rad / cooling system hoses for the MF/FE 35. 1.25" inside diameter has worked in the past but it seems a little large.

3. Also, who stocks radiator hoses. Even the local MF dealer doesn"t have any. They"ve been on back order for 4 weeks.

Thanks for your help.

Most factory block heaters are placed in the core plug (frost plug) so that's where I'd put one. They're about $20-$25. Go out to you machine and measure the ID of the core plug, That's the size you'd need. You could also ask your local MF dealer if he has one and what size it is.

Do you have the MF part number for radiator hose?

I don"t have a part number. It looks to me that all the hoses are the same size and 1 1/4" seems to work but it"s not a tight fit. The hose from the water pump to the block has a 90 degree bend in it. I had a heater element placed there but it shorted and melted the rubber. That"s why I want to go with a frost plug and, while I"m at it, replace my hoses. Advice?
