power steering fluid

I have a massy 165 that lost all the power steering fluid to the crank case. I changed the seal, used the tractor today all day plowing snow and lost the steering again. I am using Dextron III, is this a mistake? Or do I have other troubles.

Have heard before, and am repeating, NOT to use auto trany fluid in power steering, use MF spec hyd fluid. Seems the shaft that the seal fits around "may" have a groove worn in it. Until you remedy the shaft it will possibly still leak.

RiverDan, my MF manuals say absolutely not to use "powersteering fluid" like Dextron III. Instead, you use MF PermaTran III, which is MF's fluid for transmission, diff, hydrolics, power steering, external cylinders, etc. It has additives for wet brakes, independent PTOs, etc. I assume your MF165 is the same.
