Hi and if this may be of help; Look below and to the right hand side of the battery tray. (sitting in the drivers seat). There should be a plate below the battery tray forward of the steering box and directly behind the engine, near the top. The early 135 American versions had it on a plate there. The later ones had it on the dash beow the key switch. The later ones usually started with a 9a and series of numbers. The early ones had eg. "SDM"in front of a number. Try this and good luck!

The serial number list I saw didn't say SDM for the starts on any 135. I think that applied to the 35 and previous. My list starts with early trctors (as extracted from the factory parts book) having the 9A (as my '68 has) prefix, then by about 1970 that prefix was taken off. There should be a breakdown by year on this web page somewhere though I've not checked it for accurace. I'm hundreds of miles from my manuals so I can't check for closer details.

Hi again, Sorry about the SDM designation mix up.
We have to be carefull and remember that the 135 tractors were made in two versions; The American and UK version. It may be interesting to have a discussion on the differences so that all will know that not all 135's are the same or use the smae serial number set up! I own a 135 UK.

My US parts book, shows only serial numbers beginning with 9A or with all numbers. Since I live in Iowa, I don't see UK MF-135 much. I can't speak for the UK and far east versions.

On my '68 MF-135 the tractor serial number is on a tag below the steering column. On that lower dash panel. The engine has a separate serial number tag. All those part numbers ending in M1 are part numbers, not serial numbers. Your serial number will start with a couple letters but I've forgotten what they are. They changed to all numbers about 1970.
