Does anyone have any info on how this unit works? The fitting is still in the manifold, but the fuel line has been disconnected. No info in the repair manual. I know it's supposed to work when the key is turned counter clockwise, but how? Is it a solenoid valve and heat element? How many amps is it supposed to draw? Any info is appreciated. Hate to use starting fluid, but at 20 degrees, this diesel isn't going to fire on it's own.
Thanks.

The Intake Manifold heater has a small reservoir bolted to the back of the tank. The heater has a heating element and a valve That open at a set temperature. When the valve opens it dumps the fuel from the reservoir in to the manifold. The heating element ignites the flue causing a fire in the manifold it heats the air going into the cylinders which make the injected fuel ignite easier. Hope this helps I have a drawing that shows how it is all hooked up I can email it to you if you would like.

Butting in if you don't mind. I just installed a new ign sw that will run the thermostart. Now it will get hot on command.

Have moved to the fuel line which was pinched off at the device and replumbed. Bought the valve hootus that goes between the fuel tank and thermostart, and have a service manual, but don't think it is adequate.

Would really appreciate your including me on your mailing of the schematic.

Thanks,

Mark ([email protected])

That drawing would be great! The wire is hooked up, but the fuel plumbing is missing. The reservoir is there.
