I have a MF 135 3cly gas vineyard model it has power steering that is keeping me awake nights. When I fill it with fluid it will work right for a few days, however the fluid pumps out the breather on the steering box every time I turn the wheels. After a few days the level gets low and goes back to manual steering, and the fluid no longer pumps out the breather. Also when I do fill it back up the pump screaches for a couple of days when I turn sharp.

Hey guys thanks for the information. This site and all you folks have been just great to me. My farm is 30 minutes away from my house, so when I go up there to plow snow tomorrow I will start to dig into fixing the old girls steering. It's been a great little tractor I only use it in the orchard and to cart out a little fire wood but I like the little tractor so well I want it to be 100%. Thanks again. Dave

Also check the pressure relief valve in the pump, it may be stuck closed, and make sure there is a filter in the resivour, I have seen them left out. John

I guess your model has the piggyback cylinder on the gearbox and not two cylinders on the front axle. Then the bottom seal in the valve could be leaking oil into the steering gearbox as well as the rod seal on the piggyback cyl. If you have the two cylinders on the front axle it is the valve seal. If oil leaks out the column then the top valve seal is bad in both cases. Email me.

Needs a piston rod seal. The steering box should have gear oil, not power steering fluid for lubrication.
