I just purchased a massey harris 44 standard. I know standard is stating it is the wide front. I am going to register this tractor in the data base here but i want to make sure of a few things first. The serial # tag reads, 44-GS-14913
Is it a 1951 and does GS mean gas? When I register it here do i register it as a 44GS? or just a 44? Or is there something else to register it as?

Also it needs some of the big thick 6v wires, springs for the brake pedals so they return, and rubber bushings that attach the seat post and and stuff to the tractor, were do i find this stuff?

The G stands for gas.The S stands for standard axle.I used small shock rubbers on seat swivel on my 44.As far as the wires and springs your local outomotive store or local MF dealer should be able to help you out.Hope this is of some help to you.

your 44gs is a 51 model, an g s stands for gas standard . if it is still factory , front axle will not be adjustable , and rear wheels will be heavy cast wheels . an not adjustable in width.

It is a standard, i just really didnt look at the numbers on the tires to well, i saw 14.9 and i just assumed they were 38's without looking further. So is the case/IH dealer a good place to seek massey harris parts like these bushings? Also what kind of inline fuel filter works best for most fuel flow?

Those rubber grommmets are actually still available from a Case/IH dealer. They are listed under part number "CAS72696R1". They cost about $1.00 each and even have 'Harris' printed on them. Wish I knew where to get a replacement seat shock, as I would buy one myself for my 44 Special.
Have fun with that big Red and Straw Yellow MH!

Well, you can get those cables from a NAPA store or alot of other auto places. You either want the "1" guage or "Zero" guage wire. As far as springs and bushings go you could go to a old Mom and Pop hardware store for the springs(they always seem to have them) and try going to a place that sells shocks to see if they could get you some type of bushings. You may have to cut and modify them to fit. Its hard finding this type of things for Massey's. Not too many people make reproduction parts for them.
As far as the GS on the tag I would probably think that it does mean "Gas" I would just list it as a 44 standard. Hope this helps!
