I have a Massey that I recently purchased but do not know the model and was hoping to get some info on this tractor. The previous owner said he thought the tractor was about 55 h.p., it's gas, the numbers on the engine block on right side of tractor are: H260A319PB14P, the numbers on the transmission on the left side of the tractor are 763396M2, and below that number is 1-23-52, the tractor's tires are 13.5x38, the front end is wide and is adjustable, the metal on the tractor is good with no rust, and the tractor starts and runs perfect. Any help to ID my tractor would be appreciated. Thanks...

If you look up where you turn the PTO on and off(top, left side of the transmission), the model number is stamped in the case. The H260 motor was in the Massey Harris 44, a 277 motor was in the 44 Special.

You have a row crop 44 Massey-Harris, a few months
before the 40K series, which carried many Special
concepts, as they were produced. The date on the transmisson case, of casting, is close to date
assembled. Probably a typo, but the tire size is
13.6x38. You own a classic tractor, unique when
you check the other colors. Enjoy, and keep it.

We hope it is the 'corret red', Massey-Harris red,
not all those other equipment reds, or that turn pink red, MF dealers sold in the late 50's, 60's.
