I just baught a 101 jr and i have a few questions about it. I was wanting to know what it ment by twin power. About how many horse was this tractor? i only paid 450 dollars for it, the sheet metal is perfect but it needs two side panels and a left fender. What would this tractor be worth fully restored. Does anyone have any pictures of the side panels for this tractor.
Thanks in advance.

Combine Boy: Twin Power allows higher revs/horsepower while doing belt pulley work only. When the transmission is placed in "B" position after lining up and tightening the drive belt, a lever going to the governor allows higher speed.I guess the design engineers figured the traction drive train couldn't handle the extra power. Take care....Superman

You're mostly correct but with one addition .... that linkage rod to the governor (which somehow mysteriously overides basic governor limits) also kicks into place when the tractor is shifted into 4th gear (road gear) so you can boogie pretty good down the old asphalt highway to pick up a six-pack. Never could figure out how that linkage rod does what it is supposed to do. My second 101 Junior had it on but I removed it because it tends to get in the way a bit I find for other work on the carb, etc.

Alberta Mike: Those tractors always did have a reputation for being fast on the road. That explains it...Superman

Don't know where you are located , if interested you might try Luc Ranger 613-525-2493 . He is located at Alexandria Ontario and makes panels.

Do you have the serial number? Sometime in mid-production (in 1943 I think) Massey made a number of changes to the 101 lineup which included going from a single sidepanel per side to two panels per side. The shape was different and the extra panel per side covered the battery area under the tank. There were other changes as well. Where is your aircleaner located?

my tractors serial number is JRB 399495 which makes it either a 43 or a 44 i think. my air cleaner is located on the left side. Thanks in advance.

es, you have one of the later models with two sidepanels per side. Mine is an earlier version. Those panels are hard to come by. The rear ones can be fabricated fairly easily but the front ones are difficult because of the thumb latch springs which hold the bottom of each front panel in place.
