The 640 engine in our 8590 combine is getting tired -- blows oil out the breather -- does anyone know where there might be a good low hour used one???? Where is the best place to buy parts for this engine -- AGCO's prices are through the roof!!!!

Any of the diesel engine rebuild places could get the parts for you, but, they may not be any cheaper. I know about AGCO's prices, bought some powershift parts for my 2705 tractor, they where grossly inflated.

Try finding a Dennis RS or SS fire engine from 1980-1989, some of these have V8-640's in them, **make sure** the model is an RS133 or SS133 fire engine, these have the V8-640's - the model number is marked on a manufacturers plate found beside the accelerator pedal. Other Dennis models like the RS131/SS131 have V8-540's and TV8-540's. They usually have very low mileage and are very well maintained (well it is a fire engine!). Best of luck
