I am looking at a 1080 and was wanting to know if this is a problem tractor? The tractor has been sitting in apasture for a few years. I think i can get it for somewhere between $100-$800. I am wanting to use it to put up about 100 acres hay a year and a light chore tractor.

Thank you
Ryan

The key question is; why has it been sitting in the pasture for a few years?

They said there is something in the motor or trans something little that is wrong with it but you have to split the tractor to fix it. I am a diesel mechanic so the mechanical aspect won't be a problem it is just the price of the parts that is a problem.

The 1080 is an excellent tractor for haying and will run all day on very little fuel. I have one on a loader for yard work and serves my needs well. The final drives don't like a heavy 3pt load and can get spendy if you need to work on them. About the only parts I've had a hard time finding was an exhaust manifold. After about 4 months of looking I found a used one in Canada for $580 US. To spendy for me so I built one out of pipe fittings and a little machine work (I'm a machinist). I say go for it and you won't be disappointed.

Good Luck
Merle
