I"m the pround new owner of a 1960ish ?? MF35 Deluxe. It's in great shape.Local school district auctioned off surplus equip. They bought the 35 new in the early 60"s I"m told. The head of grounds keeping dept. was the rep for the sch. district at the auction. He told me it was a shame to see the old 35 go. "Best damn little tractor we ever had." He told me it was never used hard. Only for finish mowing in it's day and towards the end of it's carreer as a means to spread fert. Was used very little the last 6 or 7 years. Had reg maintainence for 30 some years.
My question is this. What does "Deluxe" mean?? What the difference between a MF35 & a MF35 Deluxe? Thanks .

My 1963 35 Deluxe gas, has the dual clutch Full gauges, Tractormeter fuel ammeter oil pressure and temperature. It has headlights and a work light on the rear. Power steering, ground speed and engine PTOs. It does not have the locking differential or spin out wheels.

Past postings on this site indicate that dual clutch, differential lock, tractormeter, deluxe seat (foam float seat), and lights are standard on the deluxe. C. T.

....I think the "Deluxe" model had spin out rear wheels also.

....The engine PTO is just like all tractors (at a set engine RPM the PTO shaft turns 540 RPM) You don't have an "independent pto", but you do have a "live pto" if your tractor has the two stage clutch.

....The ground pto was for hay rake etc.,things that you want to turn faster the faster you drove. They were also handy for unplugging things like hay conditioners (learned that as a kid). If you back up the pto shaft turnd backwards as well.

..... ..... ..... ..... .Mark

I think it most likely has ground speed PTO, as well. If you can shift into your PTO by moving the lever both up and down, then use the "up" setting only until you get more advice. Don't ever back up a PTO implement when you have it shifted down.

If it's anything like mine, a FE-35 British variant, it doesn't have a temperature gauge.

Neat tractor, eh?

THANKS FOR THE FEED BACK GENTS. I'M NOT GOING TO BS ANYONE, I'M NOT A FARM KID.I MARRIED INTO A FAMILY THAT HAS BEEN RAISING CATTLE AND FARMING
IN NEBRASKA FOR DECADES. I KNOW MY WAY AROUND AN ENGINE BUT I HAVE VERY LITTLE KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE WORKINGS OF FARM EQUIP ( TRACTORS ). THE FAMILY IS GOING TO BE ALL TOGETHER FOR THE HOLIDAY AND I KNOW MY BROTHER-IN-LAWS ARE GOING TO NAIL ME WITH QUESTIONS ABOUT " LITTLE RED 35 " SO I COULD USE A LITTLE MORE INFO.

1) THE PTO LEVER: GROUND? ENGINE? EXPLAIN PLEASE

2) THE HYDRO OUTLET / VALVE UNDER THE SEAT ?

I HAVE ORDERED A MANUAL BUT ITS TWO WEEKS TIL I GET IT.

THANKS

Power Take Off on that tractor can be driven by one of two methods; from the engine, or from the rear tires turning; hence the two different names.

It is engine driven when you don't want the PTO to be sensitive to ground speed and the converse when you do. Post hole digging or mowing would be engine driven while planting, spraying or anything requiring measuring of what you are doing matters would be ground driven.

When fertilizing, it is nice to stop the unit when the tractor stops (ground pto) so you don't have a big blob of fert pile up where you stopped.

The hyd lever (since you must have one) is used to control remote hydraulics. If you have the lever, you surely have 2 lines going to the rear of the tractor with 2 round connectors on the end. This is used with an implement that has a hydraulic cylinder. The cylinder performs work that used to be done by hand; like lifting the implement, twisting, moving things and incase of log splitters, pushing and pulling.
