I have a 1967 MF135 that I use around my small piece of property. It is an excellent tractor that runs well and does everything I want it to do. My only problem is that it has manual steering. For now I can manage the manual steering without any major problem, but I know that I'm keeping this tractor for many years and I also know that eventually I won't be able to handle it as well. Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a used power steering gear for this tractor so that I can convert it to PS? I have checked the add-on power steering companies and just don't like the product they have to offer. I'll listen to any ideas anyone might have.

Hi,
You might have problems with a PAS kit for a 1967 MF 135. The tractor will no doubt have a 'bent' axle. Later tractors from about 1969 s/n 140129 had a straight axle. My MF 135 parts book only lists a kit to fit the straight axle. The axle cylinder brackets may fit but you would have to check first. Hope this helps

Finding and making the power steering parts work might be a problem. You will need a new steering column because the control valve is part of that. You will need a new top for the steering gear box and the cylinder that mounts on the front of that. You will need pump/reservoir and hoses. You should probably start with a parts book.

I've seen more 35 with the power steering tag but that had the power steering removed than any loose power steering parts.

I broke the piston rod on my MF-135 power steering. This was at least 12 years go. MF wanted $472 for a new cylinder assembly and something like $275 for the control valve and steering column. A local machine shop made new piston and rod and fixed the steering column for $125.
