MF 65 Clutch Pedal Problem

Recently the clutch pedal on our 65 has developed a problem. It used to provide good resistance, however, now it drops without any real resistance about 80% of its stroke then it seems to engage. It seems to clutch the tractor and allow gear change. I am not sure as I write this it allows the stopping of the tractor yet allowing the PTO to continue to be engaged. Does anyone know what the problem may be and the solution? Thanks

Thanks for the kind and quick follow-up from sibby(Aus), James in MO and Cosmo. It has been helpful, esp. the contact with Big Dean.

Remove the clutch inspection plate and see if you have a broken clutch finger, (theres three) or a broken clevis pin, they can be replaced from underneath without splitting the tractor. good luck and cheers. sibby from down under.

You need a new PTO clutch The 65 has two clutches the first half of your pedal is your pto clutch (live power) then the last half is your tractor transmission You will probably have to do both sorry for the bad news if you decide to do it yourself get a hold of big dean there are specific ways to do and not do it take it from someone who cost himself some money

Scroll down a few posts and look for Big Dean. In most of his answers he posts a link to his web site or his email address. He will help you. An excellent man.
