Adding 2 way Hyd to MF35?

I have a MF 35 diesel deluxe (perkins). I would like to run a PTO chipper with it that has a hydraulic feeder. I've read the old posts in this forum, and it appears to me that there are two choices:

a kit that taps into the top of the transmission case, drawing from the 3pt pump

a kit that adds a pump to the front of the tractor

For the former, will it produce enough gpm to run the feeder with reasonable speed?

For the latter, does it fit under the stock radiator, or do I need a new radiator that accompdates the pump and its drive shaft? Where is the oil reservoir normally mounted?

What is the cost of these two kits?

Hi,
Forget about the pump conversion at the front of the engine....it's likely to be very expensive and unnecessary. Assuming the the tractor's internal hydraulic system is in reasonable condition that will be all you will need.
Start off by acquiring an 'isolator' valve to either sit under or replace the two bolts in the plate at the front rhs of the hydraulic cover. This is required to shut off the flow to the lift cylinder and prevent the linkage rising...unless you select the lift position on the control lever of the valve. Fit a suitable quick-release coupling and hose if required to one of the valve port(s).
On the vertical face of the left hand side of the hyd cover you will find a plug. This can be used to return the oil to the tractor's transmission. Alternatively you can modify the oil filler plug (next to the gear levers) with suitable fittings. When fitting your chipper make sure that the oil coming from the iso valve goes to the 'in' port on the chipper and 'out' goes to the return. If you connect wrongly and your return hose is a low pressure one, you might have a hose burst and damage the valve.
Ensure that everything is connected properly and lift the hydraulic quadrant levers slowly with the engine at idle and listen for relief valve 'blow-off'. If everything is OK engage the feed rollers and then the PTO and build up slowly to working speed.
You don't need any fast speed for the feed rollers.....remember you only have a '35 driving it.
