Hello Troy - You have an excellent tractor. Might take some fixing, but it will sure be worth it! While it's vintage, it will give you more bang (or rather, Purr - the bang is painted green) for your buck than ANY of the new ones. There is very little difference between the US and UK units - Lucas electrics, which can be replaced with delco if/when needed (we've replaced all our generators with $65 Cdn self-energizing 37 amp delco alternators), the steering box, and the first two letters in the serial no! The only failure I've heard of in the steering is when a barn fell on one! Speaking of the steering box, it would be a good idea to change the oil in it. It almost certainly has the original oil and can get crudded up. You have to take the side off the box to drain and flush it. Silicon will replace the gasket. Strongly recommend a shop manual - we use the I&T publication MF-14. Available from our hosts. A bit cheaper than the MF shop manual, covers everything but the steering and Lucas. What the manual doesn't tell you, the folks on the board here can. Most engine parts are readily available from Canadian sources. The 4-cyl engine is reliable, a bit less power than the later Perkins, and will likely be hard to start in cold weather, and maybe even in warm. We installed a 150 - 200 watt block heater in the lower rad hose on ours, and a half hour to an hour in winter, 15 min in summer did it. Enjoy your new pet!
