I'm looking at a massey 250 diesel with a set of hyd. remotes, hyd. pto and thinking of buying. Anyone know anything about this model? How reliable? My other choice is a 240. I've heard something about weak transmission but then opthers have said it's the same as the 240.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
Assuming that the MF 250's on your side of the pond are basically similar to ours, then you should not have any worries. They are sound and well proven units. The engine is a little underpowered for the 4WD version but otherwise sound and reliable working within its capabilities. The only weakness as far as I am aware in UK versions was the quality of the paint. It faded and deteriorated quite quickly, many 200 series tractors suffered the same fate.
I have a customer operating 2 4WD's launching boats off the beach in South Wales.

That is great to hear because I just bought a UK Massey 250. I can live with faded paint if everything else works great.

thanks for good news,
Mark
