Help please The Continental Z134 engine in my f40 was using a lot of oil and smoking a lot so I rebuilt it. Bought an engine kit from this site. Replaced sleeves, pistons, rings, bearings, oil pump and had head rebuilt by an auto machine shop.Had crank turned .010" on mains and .020 on rods. Engine now starts and runs fine, has 40 psi oil pressure and doesn't smoke. The problem now is a deep knock that seems to be coming from the rear end of the engine. Doesn't get any better or worse with speed change or with clutch engaged or disengaged. Had the same or a similar knock before rebuild but I thought it would go away with the rebuild. Would really appreciate any thoughts or ideas on what to do now. Thanks in advance. Lew

Did you use plastigage when you checked the fit of the bearings? Did you check the fit of the bearing caps to the od of the bearings? Did you check the fit on the rods to the bearings?

How did you like the quality of the parts from your kit? I have an F40 that I am fixing to rebuild this winter and am considering the kit from here as well...

John

No I didn't check any fits before assembly. Probably should have but didn't think it was really necessary. The crank miked exactly where it should be after it was turned and the bearings were the right size if the boxes were labeled properly. Parts quality in the kit seemed good but the delivery was in three different shipments, didn't get any main bearings, got a water pump that wasn't supposed to be in the kit [not right one for my engine]. All problems were resolved eventually though. Thanks for the reply.
