Tell you a story about my Ford 601. It did just about what your MF does: ran 20-30 minutes under load & then quit. And I did just about what you've done: Rebuilt carb - many times! - so now it can't be a fuel problem, right? Ah, must be something electrical breaking down when it gets warmed up. So replaced condenser, replaced coil, checked points, tested ign switch, replaced most of the wiring, checked that gas cap was vented, etc. No change. It would idle for hours if I'd let it; just wouldn't run more than 20-30 minutes under load. Then - and I believe it was txblu/Mark who suggested this - I started timing the fuel flow. A. Took the bottom of the carb off & timed fuel flow thru the main jet into a coffee can, to a specified mark. Time was around 55 seconds. B. The sediment bowl was bolted directly to the carb, so unbolted the carb, and timed fuel flow again, now out of the sediment bowl. Again, time was around 55 seconds. C. Then disconnected sediment bowl from fuel line, & timed a third time. Around 15 seconds to the mark, and not the 55 or so I was expecting. Conclusion: There was an obstruction in my sediment bowl. Wrong hollow bolt holding sed. bowl to carb in my case. Letting enough gas into the carb to idle forever, but couldn't keep up with fuel draw under load. If times of A., B. and C. had all been the same - and if I was SURE the gas tank/fuel line/shutoff valve didn't have an obstruction, THEN it might be time to think about electrical stuff. Well, this is long-winded and I apologize for that. Trying to splain a thought process, though, and I guess I could do a better job. Anyway, hope this helps. John A (TX)
