Hello MF 35r's, I Just purchased a 35 diesel and its twin brother a 35 deluxe gas with power steering from an old estate farm near Montreal,Quebec (private sale, cheap...) Both tractors have add on front grill's/ bumper/? Either have ever slept outside and are in perfect condition/Never even ever washed with probablythe exception of some rain!. Yes I know i am lucky. I am just finishing a perfect paint job on the gas and it runs like a top. The diesel does not turn over, An old tractor mechanic friend of mine said that when hot and worked hard thay could drop a sleeve and it will jam the crank??? He also said that the sleeves are Chromed so it wont cease up. he said to take off starter and turn flywheel the other way and if it moves, this is my problem!, Got any ideas???? Those who are interested i can send a photo, They are going to compliment my 9n 2n 8n/oliver JD Fordson Major collection.

Just gotta add this. (Brag and fact)

For the last 3 days I have been mowing my pasure after work with my MF35 (AD3-152 Perkins) and 5' Rhino mower. It is such a smooth running, sweet setup. Old Perkie just humms right along, hear just a slight gear whine with the Rhino whacking away. Real nice and smooth cut (looks like my lawnmower did it) Peace and syrinity.

Mark

For what it's worth, reading your lyrical account of mowing your field what what tipped the balance and led me to buy the MF 35 Diesel mentioned in today's New Tractor Gloat.

Hi from South Wales,
First of all you need to check whether the engine is siezed or will turn, but onlt a small amount. It is possible for a liner to drop and foul the crankshaft if the lip around the top breaks and the liner can become loose. Cracks half way round are quite common but never had a complete one. If you have chrome liners then it is probably an early '35. You may have a circular plate bolted onto the underside of the sump (oil pan? your side.) If you have, drain the oil and remove the plate which has the oil strainer on it. If a liner has dropped you should see it. Removing the starter and trying to turn the flywheel will help but won't identify the cause. If you don't have a plate on the sump, block the tractor under the belly plate and remove the sump.
Hope this helps
David P
