Novice here...checked out my old mf35 before I bought it in regards to big dean sugg..pto shaft did not vibrate or shake..everything seemed to be fine. I have not had the chance to hook anything up to it, but I was wondering; the pto lever on the side seems like it should have several speeds due to the various "marks" on the plate which houses the lever. However, my pto only has 1 speed. Is that the way it is supposed to work, either on or off?

There are not different speeds involved on the engine PTO. The one speed the engine turns the PTO is 540 at a set engine RPM. If you have a tach, there is a mark that should read PTO or 540 on it. At that engine speed, you have optimum PTO speed for most equipment requiring it. But, your 35 may or may not have one other option. If so, from off position you have on or engine pto on one side, and if you move the lever to the opposite side of off, your PTO will turn in speed in relation to the wheel speed. If you have that option, it will turn backwards when you back up. Not all Masseys have both engine and wheel driven PTO's. Hope to have been assistance.
