I recently purchased a MF 135 the head lights are missing. I thought it was a 1972 but now I think it is a 1965. I have looking at pictures and some have lights on fenders , some on sides of grill and some I don't see at all I am thinking of restoring and wonder where the lights go.

Depends on the fenders. The clam shell fenders didn't support lights well, though the flat topped fenders do. So a clam shell fender tractor would tend to have lights mounted up front.

Depends on the application. A loader hides most of the light from the fender mounted lights so lights up on the front hood cowl get added.

As far as I can tell, MF-135 up through 1968 used Continental gas engines (4 cylinders), then they switched to 3 cylinder Perkins gas engines for a few years, then switched back to the Continental Z-145. My '68 manual doesn't cover the Perkins gas, but a '69 manual that I used to have didn't cover the Continental gas engine.

The serial number should tie down the year quite well.
