I have a 1970 Massey Ferguson 135 with a 3 cylinder Perkins gas engine. Have owned for 5 years and never had a problem with the hydraulic lift. The lift unexpectingly quit working. Fluid level is fine. I have not tried the lift without an implement attached. What could be some causes for this problem.

try lifting with no attachments ,if it works, then try lifting something without the top link.If it works then the control spring and components in the lift cover may need service.

Just a few of the causes for your problem [1] one or both of the standpipe O-ring are bad [2] the O-ring between the cylinder and the liftcover
[3] a cracked cylinder'
[4] the roller on the Pump control valve lever has pop out. [5] the control valve return spring retainer clip has came of. ] 6] one of the Valve chamber cap snap ring has came out. If it is only the position lever that does not work they have a piece of linkage that sometimes will get out of place and cause the lift position lever not to work. If it will lift a light load but not a heavy one. It could be a weak relief valve the pump is wore out or the master control spring has got weak. There are probably some things I am forgetting besides these things If I can be of further help E-mail me
