I am going to look at a Massey 50. Could some one tell me if the PTO works from a two stage clutch or a hy. clutch pac. like the Super 90. Thanks,
Harvey

Thanks to the both of you. Just found this discussion board. I use Masseys so this could be very useful for me. Thanks again.
Harvey

GaryF It was the Ag mod. It sold before I got there. I have a super 90 with a dead pto. I sure do like the tractor but the expense of fixing it is rather high. It is just the right size that I need if only the pto worked.

Harvey The MF50 ag tractor would only be about 35hp. Surely the super 90 has more HP than that!!. as to the pto not working the 35's had a sleeve and a shear pin that was designed to break so that you didn't cause any damage. I know little to nothing about the 90 series tractors were they not made for MF by MM?

At the risk of upsetting the few Super 90 fans out there (I"m betting most of those fans weren"t mechanics at a Massey dealer!!), thankfully there is very little simular with the MF50. I have never seen a 50 without a dual stage clutch, I even went and checked my parts and service manuals to make sure, They do list a 9" single stage clutch, but I have never come accross one yet. The single stage clutch will have not mean you have a hydraulic clutch though, it will be simular to the 2,8,& 9-N Fords, It won"t be live, it will stop driving whenever the clutch is depressed.

PTO works off a two stage clutch.
