MF-180 brakes and 3-point problems

I recently bought a MF-180 and I'm having trouble with the brakes and the 3-point.

The left brake works if I stand on the pedal. But, the right brake does not work at all. Where are the brakes located? Are they hard to get at? Anything I should look at first?

The 3-point lifts real slow and shakes as it raises, with or without a load. It will not lift unless the tractor is stopped and at high idle. It also only lifts when the position lever is in DOWN and the draft is in UP. What should I look at? Bad valve?? Something connected wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Never have seen a 180 so my comments are based on my experience with other '100' series MF tractors. I'm guessing yours is pretty similar.
(but I could be wrong)

Brakes are inboard, disks. Have seen 2 others (mine included) where the starboard brake has given up before the port side. It's a fair, but not overwhelming job to get at them. You must remove the axle housings to gain access to the brake components.

As far as the 3 point operation... check your fluid level (there's a little dipstick down at the rear of the starboard floorboard) If your fluid is ok, then there's a filter located down in the transmission that you can access by removing the top hydraulic cover (under the front of the seat) that may be plugged up.

Those 2 items would be my first suspects..

I think the hosts for this web site may have manuals for the 180 ? If not a 175 manual might get you close... highly recommended purchase.

Hope the above helps. Perhaps some others on this forum may have direct experience with a 180.
