I have a 165 that is doing something strange and I hope someone can help me. This tractor has multi power. What it is doing is that when I get to the end of a row, or go to turn around, when I then straighten the wheels it acts as if the clutch is slipping. I know it is not the clutch, but what is it. I notice this usually when it is at lower rpm's.

I was wondering what you're pulling. Is the tractor under load(like a plow) or something like a bushhog?

I have noticed it with and without a load.

Your power steering pump is solely dedicated to steering on this tractor. You have a "piggy-back pump" mounted on top of your scotch-yoke pump inside your transmission that operates your Multi-power & IPTO (if you have independant pto), the pressure could be low, but you want to make sure before spending over $300.00 just in parts! Does it only do this when you are in the low side of the Multi-power? See if it acts the same way in the high side, since your tractor will free-wheel in the low side, there is a chance that your differential is actually speeding up your tractor slightly in a tight turn, letting your ground speed override your engine speed, allowing you to coast momentarly until the engine speed starts to drive into it again. All this is assumeing your Multi-power is working properly! A quick way to see if it is working properly, nose your tractor up a slight grade in the low side with low RPM's, depress the clutch just until forward movement stops and you start to coast backwards, then throw the Multi-Power lever into high, if your tractor stops like you hit the brakes, everything is OK inside. If it doesn't stop, better run some more tests before diving off into these systems, it can get expensive fast! Let me know what you find out. Sorry about the spelling!

I have only noticed it in high.It feels somewhat like the tractor is freewheeling some but not really. It is hard to explain. If I knew it was the multi power I was thinking of just welding it solid but I would like to know what it is.

I think maybe your power steering pump is starting to get weak. Not really sure on the setup for one of those, but my Super 90 is like that. At lower rpm's if I turn the wheel all the way to one side the tractor stops moving sometimes. When I turn it back the other way it goes again. I believe the multi-power setup runs off of the power steering pressure.
