I have a 1971 MF165 with a front loader. Recently though the loader has gotten weak. I have replaced the fluid and filter and pick up tube gaskets on the divertor valve, with no improvement. the loader just doesnt have any power anymore and will not lift any load over half way up. The PTO and 3 point are fine and if I shut the tractor off I can come back the next day and the bucket will still be in the air, even loaded. looking for ideas.

I have checked the fluid level each day and it has stayed steady on the full mark. What doesn't make sense to me though is that the end loader is an add on, and did not come from the factory installed and when you check the fluid levels the bucket is all the way down. this means that the cylinders are closed up and have very little fluid in them. How can the tractors normal full mark account for all of the extra fluid needed to fill these cylinders at full extension? Do I need to fill it above the full mark to account for the extra cylinder space.

D.C.,Check the fluid with the loader up as far as it will go, if it is below the stick add till the loader is all the way up.I have a D-17 that won`t lift my wagon till I over fill it with oil then it works fine. kjm

My first though would be the pump, but if the 3 point is lifting a load fine, maybe your lift cylinders need repacked??
