My MF 255 with the perk 236 seems to smoke excessively. It seems to run good and uses hardly any oil. I have cleaned the outer filter and changed the inner filter, and added diesel fuel additive but it didn't seem to help. Any help would be appreciated. Mike S.

If the Smoke is black check the air cleaner hose to be sure it is not resticted. Dirt dobbers love to build their nest in the air system on them. Also make sure the hose is not sucking together. I have seen that a few times. If I can be of further help Email me

Another thing to check. The condition of the air filter.

My 35 with the perkins diesel was doing the same thing. Big Dean recomended a quart of transmission fluid in the fuel with a full tank of fuel and run it all through. It cured the smoke after a few hours of running. I add a quart once a year now to keep things clean.

You should have the injectors checked to make sure they are working properly.
