Hi. I recently bought a 1964 MF 35 (gasoline). I must admit it is the first tractor I have owned, so I am somewhat of a "newbie". Electrically, I have replaced everything from the coil to the plugs. I have also had portions of the fuel system replaced and had an MF mechanic give it the "once over" for timing, etc. as well. I have 3 questions for you experts out there.

First. Under heavy load and heavy throttle, the tractor "sputters", "chokes down", essentially runs very rough. In fact, it runs best at about 2/3 throttle. At idle, it runs smooth as a kitten regarless of throttle. Any suggestions?

Second. I'm not really sure when/how to set and use the trim. Could someone help me out there?

Finally. Sometimes the PTO is difficult to engage. Not sure why and not sure what to do about it.

Thanks.

Not much you can do about the PTO.

MY massey 135 does it sometimes, if it wont go in, take your foot off the clutch and put it back on again. Works every time for me.

I beleive it is when the PTO gear which slides back and forth inside the transmission hits against the teeth of the cogs that its trying to engage with. As i said nothing you can do about it, just ignore it

As long as its not grinding when you try to engage it each time. If its doing this you need to adjust your PTO clutch.

Ben
