The massey 44 was built with a six volt positive ground system from the factory. The original generator would be a autolite unit.If there is anything else I can help you with drop me a line

Hi Bruce I noticed your reply to 'Massey 44 12v or 6v'. The 44 massey I recently purchased is a 6v system and is connected negative ground.Would this be the reason for my cranking problem?.Could I just reverse the cables without causing a problem and hopefully solve it?
