MF35 Lift question

When using a 5' box blade, my lift only takes it up about a foot off the ground. It will hold it there fine, except when I press in the clutch pedal, and then it will lower to the ground. Take my foot off clutch, and it will raise back up again to that same height. Also will go to ground when I shut tractor off. Takes only a few seconds to lower to the ground either way. Any sugg? Thanks, Mike

The PTO clutch runs the pump too, unlike Ford, at least on MF35 with live PTO. So if you shut off the PTO, via the clutch all the way down, the pump stops. Hence you are at the mercy of your lift cylinder rings. If worn, it will leak down. Mine does, but not so bad as to warrant a teardown. Holds just fine when pump is running. Heavier oil, as mentioned, will reduce the rate of decent.

The clutch thing is normal operation. do you have a dual clutch? As far as the implement dropping after shut down, the time seems to vary on condition of lift piston, lift piston rings, etc. my 35 takes about 3 minutes to creep down with a 6' roll-over box scrape and thats with new lift piston rings.

No, I think it is just single...rev,1,2,and 3rd..hi and low gear. So the box blade should not go any higher than say 1 foot above ground? It will drop in about 3-5 seconds. It just seems that when you put the clutch in the blade should not drop like that, but as this is my first tractor maybe I dont know for sure...Thanks

could be your stand pipe o,rings, remove the rectangular plate under the seat on front r/h side on top of lift cover, replace o,rings and back up washers and locate pipe into top of hyd pump and retry. easiest thing to try first. cheers.

I had the same problem with my 35.

I had the same universal 10w-30 in the engine and gearbox.

The lift was much better when I replaced the gear oil into a single grade 50w.

Hi,

MF calls for 90w hydraulic mineral oil in these 35's. We have had a hard time finding 90 mineral, so we run 100w mineral and everything works great!!

Take care

Will

WOW!..Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully someday I will be able to return the favor to someone else. Anyhow, my first tractor, am still waiting on my shop manual to arrive. Dont even know yet where to fill up fluid(trans/rear case, ect). I see that top cover under the seat. Also, I guess there is just 1 drain plug for trans/rear case fluid?..Got a lot to learn..Thanks again everyone.
