The front fan on my 255 is getting a little "wobbly", looks like the water pump bearing.

Probably should just go ahead and change the pump rather than have it give out on me when I need it.

I have the technical manual on order. How tough of a job is it to change the water pump on this tractor? Any major tricks or gotcha's I should watch out for?

Don't know about the MF 255, but I changed the waterpump on my MF 690. Not too bad. I had to first remove the radiator cowling, then the fan bolts, then the extension piece between the water pump and the fan. I also changed the top hose, bottom hose, and put in a new thermostat. Flushed out good. Refilled with 50/50 Prestone green and distilled water. Runs perfect temp now and never overheats even in the Texas summer pulling offset disk plow. I got the new gasket and waterpump at MF dealer. Good luck.
