I have a MF 165 that I recently bought and absolutely love. It has a FORD front-end loader attached to it and I have found it to be invaluable. The only problem, if you can call it that, is that I am able to push (tilt) the bucket down by stepping on the edge of the bucket. I am able to do this when the tractor is off and when the tractor is running and the tilt level is in the upright position,i.e. neither in the position to tilt the bucket up or down. My questions are a) is this normal?
b) is there some further identification for the loader type or model that I can find in case I need to get parts?
c) if this is a problem will it be hard for a complete novice mechanic to fix?
Thanks for all your help.

Try to lift on the bucket & see if it will come up a little in the same situation. If it does, your valve sounds like it has a "float" setting, which keeps the bucket steady when the tractor is going over uneven ground.
