My father in law knows where there is a MH 444 sitting under a tree in a farmers yard. He doesn't know if the engine's frozze up or not.the farmer will sell it . Does anyone know what a fair price would be and can you still get parts for it? I think the hood is in bad shape and the tire's are bad.

Harris guy I have not seen the tractor myself Maybe soon I'll run over and take a look at it.I've got a s/n if that will say anything about the tractor. 444gire 77327. I,m just finishing up my first tractor resto. A farmall H to use with a belly mower. The 444 was used on a potato farm here in central Minnesota. I've got a digital camera I'll take a picture and if my father in law doesn't want it maybe someone in this forum will want it. I hate to see good old iron go to waste.

Dale, as much as I shouldn't, send me the pics.
Being a restorer of record, I'd also loathe the idea of an impact wrench jockey ending any
hope for this once proud runner. Should this
project become a 'pass', I would attempt to
either connect with another MH respecter, or just
keep it, until I have the critical parts, to do
the classic, justice. Always downsizing, but then
the hobby opens to 'just one more'. Kindly let
me review, four:left, right, rear, OP station.

The triple series Massey's are pretty collectable depending on what style of front end it has and also what factory options are on it. Of course, the value is also determined by things like tin and tires (that you mentioned) and the engine condition, etc. Post your question over on the Massey board and ask for "Harris Guy" in your title. He knows about as much about these tractors as the guys who built them I think. Beautiful looking tractors when they're finished off right.

Mike I looked around I can't find where the Massey board is at. I 'm not real up to speed on this site or the internet for that mater. Can you point me in the right direction.

Sorry about that, you're already in the MH forum. Maybe Harris Guy is on holidays, usually he responds right away to triple number questions.

Being parked, unknown years, bad hood ,has no doubt brought added engine damage. Sheet metal,
rust, rim rot, stuck engines, dry rot tires, frozen brakes, water entering the tranny case, through the cracked rubber shift boot, missing
parts, all flux the value. 38" rears, parts intact, can move the price from a few hundred, to a grand. A tractor in a drier climate can be
worth restoring, but two decades in snow country
can turn it to a donor. Parts are few, but a good
restorer can save a lot of a MH. Novices get too
tangled wanting pristine cosmetics. Most 444's
need drivetrain rebuild, as this is common cause
for 'parked': input shaft/hi/lo range failure. If
you can not correct the drive train wear/noise, this is not a project to persue. Why not attach a photo, state, someone may be able to save it, if not your choice. A 44Special RC is about half the effort, being the strongest 44 version. What
is by the tree?

Here on the discussion forums menu (you are in the "tractor talk" section right now) scroll down until you hit the forum for Massey Harris and Massey Ferguson. Go in there and post a message like the one you already did. Maybe put a title like "444 question for Harris Guy". He'll no doubt see it and respond.Maybe mention more details including front end style (narrow, wide standard, or wide adjustable) and what options are on it (power steering, 3-point hitch, hydraulics, etc.). Those are the things that often determine it's value.
