I have a Massey 135. After running it for the first time this year it shut down after 10 minutes of bush hogging. I changed out the primary fuel filter and air bleed the system. After cutting another 10 minutes it cut off again. Does it sound like there could be water in the fuel tank? Any suggestions on what I should do. Thanks Mike

Are you getting water out the bleeder screw or in the filter. If so that could be your problem and will damage your injection pump & injectors. There are other things that could be your problem a restriction in the system some place probably between the tank & the transfer pump on the right side. The transfer pump could be bad. They will pump using the hand lever just fine but the shorter stroke of the cam shaft they will not pump enough fuel to keep up with the fuel demand the injection pump requires.

My MF 35 has three filters. One filter is in the tank, one is above the glass bowl and one is in the carb gas line elbow.

We just had the same problem with a 40 - essentially the same engine and fuel system.

It turned out to be a restriction in the fuel shutoff valve, slowing fuel to a small dribble.

We could not blow back through the line to the tank (suction line between the fuel pump and the fuel shutoff).

Turned out the screen was missing from the top of the shutoff valve, and apparently some crud got in. Air pressure blew it out, and we removed the tank to clean it.
