M;;y MF 65 gas safety starter switch doesn't work anymore. I enjoyed it as a feature and have almost gotten used to it no longer being there. My concern if someone else uses the tractor they might drive it through the wall of the shed because as you know once the tractor gets going nothing will stop it. What is the problem and how big a deal is it to fix??

The neutral safety switch on your tractor screws into the top of the bell housing on the right side. Look for a big nut with 2 wires plugged into the top of it. It is an easy job.

Not familiar with your tractor per se, but the function has to do with something in the top of the transmission whereas if the shift lever(s) are in neutral, there is a hole directly under this button and it can depress and engage the starter. If not there is a solid plate.

My Fords are in the top cover of the tranny. I think MF puts it forward of the tranny, under the battery on top of the main tractor casting. I think that either you take the switch out from the top (if screws are visable), or remove the plate to which it is attached and get at it that way. The Ford requires the tranny top cover to come off so that you can get to a lock washer and nut under the cover. Not a problem to fix.

Get er fixed and maybe save someone's life..... ..... ..... ..... ..... your's.
