Can anyone tell me what would cause this tractor not to go in reverse? You can feel the gears meshing when you shift, but when you let the clutch out it won't move. All other gears work fine. It is 24 speed multi power. Thanks, Nick

I HAD A 2745 WITH A 24SP IN IT, THERE IS A RUBBER BUSHING IN THE LINKAGE UNDER THE CAB,AND IT WOULD STRIP OUT AND WOULD BE HARD TO PUT IN GEAR AND FORWARD TO REVERSE. I ALSO WENT INTO THE 24 SP, AND SPENT SOME MAJOR BUCKS. THE OLD TRACTOR SHURE WOULD PULL, SOLD IT AND GOT A 4440 DEERE.I HOPE THIS HELPS TAKE A LOOK AT THIS BUSHING/COUPLING.

Once owned a 2805 with 24 speed. Was 'told' that when Reverse goes out, your Multi-Power is going bad. Don't know if that is your problem or not. "marlowe" on this site knows the 2000 series very well. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. You may be on to something with the pressure suggestion. When shifted into low range and reverse, the "power shift clutch oil pressure" light comes on. This sounds like the problem. Any suggestions as to what could cause this? Thanks for any advice. I am completely stumped by this. Thanks again, Nick

If I remember correctly(50%), there are two hyd. pumps, the 'main' and the 'aux'. I "think" that the Powershift is powered by the 'main' pump, right side, in front of rear axle, should be a port or threaded plug to check pressure, probably need a book to find it. The pump, I'm told, is not that hard to remove/ohaul/replace but requires draining about 70+ gallons of hyd oil.
P.S. I 'suspect' marlowe knows more than he admits to ;-)

I would guess that you have a linkage problem under the cab. Have someone watch to make sure the shaft going through the cover is actually turning all the way.Even if you have no hyd. pressure the tractor will still drive, as the intermediate part of the trans needs no oil pressure to operate. That means that if you have no oil pressure the trans will automatically go to intermediate. Good luck. holm
