Was in NAPA yesterday to get another cartridge oil filter for the 35. NAPA P/N is 1188. Got the bright Idea to remove the stuffer that comes inside the box and ask the attendant how much it costs to upgrade to the spin on.....the numbers (3 pieces required) for the whole mod are in the 1188 filter box.

He said $18 for the whole shootin match, including the cast bracket and you can have it tomorrow afternoon.

Is your 35 a continental z134 gas engine? If it is you can go to ssb*tractor*.*com* (delete stars) and order their kit. Find the listings for mf35 and look under oil filters. The kit is $27.00 or so plus shipping. I put one on my tractor and it sure is good to be filtering the oil.

Dont know what all the excitements about when it comes to spin on filters. The stock filter is easy to remove and works very well. Keep it stock its worth more when you sell it..

Well my problem was this. Newbie owner; first oil change; go to NAPA and get oil filter cartridge 1188. Inside box is a piece of paper showing what all is supposed to be inside the cannister.....wow....3x the parts inside mine. I think over the years, someone left some of it out.

So I overreact. I order the spinon kit described in the stuffer to find out this whole thing is to backfit a '68 Chev p/u engine. Pfffff fffff ft.

Take it all back and buy another 1188 and upon installing, realize that I'm missing nothing.

End of wild goose chase. Agree, not that hard to change and filters are cheap.

The internal parts to my filter canister were missing, like a lot of others out there. I have put mine in a box and it is there if want to sell it.

Perk 3/152. I think MF has the kits for about $50 or so. I originally thought I was missing some parts in my cannister, due to the diagram that came with my NAPA 1188 filter, which is where all this started. Now that I have had time to digest the comments therein, I think all my parts are intact and will probably keep the cartridge.

Thanks,

Mark

The kit is for an auto, not a tractor. Doesn't fit.

Sorry,

Mark

I sure will, will even give you the part numbers of the parts.

What prompted this is this same piece of paper shows the parts that are supposed to be in your cartridge system (must be a dozen springs and seals) and I know mine didn't have that many parts the last time I changed it (first time....just bought tractor).
