Rebuilding a Mavel Carb on a 1958 MF50. The venturi or funnel will fit in so it is flush with the upper casting or sticking out. Which way is correct?

With a set of calipers, measure the diameter of the venturi casting (or brass trumpet) at both ends. I think one end will be slightly smaller. Then measure the upper and lower carb castings (that the venturi ends fit into). I think you should be able to find the match as to which is up and which is down.

Thanks for the suggestion. I found a blow up diagram showing the larger trumpet end up. This allows the lower end to stick out and mate with the lower casting. The gasket needed to be trimmed so the whole thing would go together.
