A new rattle?

My MF-2135 has developed a rattle that sounds like either a bunch of rocks in the gearbox or a 3/8" chain bouncing around.

It rattles when I first start it up and occasionally during idle. I've never heard it when it's in gear and it shifts fine and runs smooth.

I'm going to change oil this week and look it over real close for metal but I don't see any on the dipstick.

Any ideas what's going on?

Tyler,

My first thought is a clutch / bearing problem. Does it change when you press down on the clutch?

The sound is still real new so I haven't had a lot of time to experiment. I have tried putting it in gear and the sound always goes away. It doesn't stay that long even when I do nothing so that's not saying much.

Do you have a park gear on this tractor?

Eric,
I tried to reply to this post yesterday but some network problem prevented me.

My tractor has two neutrals. One on the 3 speed transmission (1 reverse and 3 fwd) and another between the high and low range shifter. I hear the sound when both are in neutral but this is a new sound and I'm not sure if it wouldn't also happen when it's in gear.
