trying to bring an MH 50 back to life. Brake drum is fastened to the axle flange with two BIG screws and they will not budge. The paint on the screws is not scratched so I don't think they have moved since the tractor was assembled in 1956! I've tried heat and a hammer...now what???

The way I use to remove those screws was use a punch put it the slot close to end of the slot & hit it with a hammer to cause it to turn counterclockwise it some times took a few licks to make it break loose but I never had one that I could not break loose that way. I done quite a few of them in the 27 years I was a Massey Ferguson mechanic & service manager. If I can be of further help E-mail

thanks Big Dean, I didn't think of that, will give it a whirl tomorrow.

While I have the wheels off should I grease those outer bearings? Are there any special gaskets or seals to be aware of? I have a knack for turning small jobs into BIG jobs.

thanks,
